Art like you've never seen it before! Colorful, larger than life art pieces to pique the creative spirit in all of us. You will not want to miss this one day inflatable art installation created by Sean Hages from Sean Hages Loves You, LLC! This event kicks off the Jackson Festival for the Arts on Thursday, September 7th from 5p until 11p. Sean Hages is an interdisciplinary artist based in Detroit, Michigan. Sean predominantly works as an installation artist and a sculptor. His award winning artwork has exhibited internationally in a variety of contexts ranging from galleries to music festivals. Sean has grown deeply involved with the local art scene since moving to Detroit in 2000, working as an arts instructor, fabricator, artist, curator and an arts advocate. “When I alter the world in an intentional manner I am acting as an artist. The process can be as simple as moving a pebble or planting an idea. An artist changes the world around themselves: rearranges, organizes or disorganizes, represents and redefines. I recognize my purpose is to engender change in the world.” This FREE event is part of the Urban/Rural Conversation and is sponsored by Michigan ArtShare and Art 634. This event will run in conjunction with Underground Sound
To kick off The Jackson Festival for the Arts, we are celebrating with an immersive art experience. Featured at Movement, we welcome Detroit native Sophiyah Elizabeth and all of her good vibes to Art 634, thanks to sponsorship by Michigan ArtShare. In a cave created by Ray Phillips, Sophiyah E. will be joined by DJ Ceech, John Collin McCormick, and inflatable artist Sean Hages to create a world Jackson has yet to see. Sophiyah Elizabeth is a multi-sensory artist drawing inspiration from the desire to raise awareness surrounding liberation + spiritual reverence. Her practice explores deepening connections for elevation. Sophiyah's love for sonics + spiritual technology intertwines holistic story-telling + ancestral influence, utilizing radical sound design to convey messages of empowerment. Jackson's own DJ Ceech will be illuminating the experience with electronic sounds that wake the senses, and John Collins McCormick will start out the night with outside of the box sound art. The experience will also be elevated by the colorful and quirky inflatables created by Sean Hages of Detroit. Sean predominantly works as an installation artist and a sculptor. His award winning artwork has exhibited internationally in a variety of contexts ranging from galleries to music festivals. This event is $5 at the door for those over the age of 21, and is sponsored by Michigan Art Share, Art 634, Zoerman's Zombies, and The Jackson Festival of the Arts. Light refreshments will be provided, please feel free to bring your own beverage of choice.
